Paul Scott True House Stories

Biography Paul Scott

Paul was born with music in his bones. His parents notice earlier on when their pots and pans went missing. He experimented with multiple instruments including the drums, organ, guitar and bass guitar. He would spend an ample amount of time studying each instrument in his youth until he became skilled and old enough to earn a spot playing in a popular local band. Although Paul marched in the High School band and the New York Skyliners Senior Drum and Bugle Corps, (too young to be there), he never had a continuous or complete course to learn to read music.

With an impeccable sense of rhythm and syncopation, moving from musical instruments to turntables was a natural transition. Paul became a popular DJ in high school and college until he earned a position at Club Sensations as a resident DJ. Paul obtained a full-time song writing and engineer position working at Sensations Studios. At Club Sensations, Paul co-produced Jomanda’s “Make my body Rock” and Turntable Orchestra’s “Gonna Miss Me”. His house music releases gained him popularity and landed him in Europe for studio work and DJ gigs abroad. Several DJ tours includes London, Amsterdam, Sardinia, and Prussia Italy.

In 87-88, Paul Scott and Shank Thompson met in through DJ Punch Phillips. They decided to joined forces to form Brothers of Peace aka B.O.P.  After the first few releases, their first notable mention was a 4 track E.P. release on Big Beat Records. “Come on Move with the Beat” was the break out banger off the project. The first real success of BOP was an Ace Beat Records release of “Call Him Up” which was a gospel driven, churchy-fied house track with an all-star cast of New Jersey fines house music singers i.e. Kenny Bobien, Sandy B, and Joey Washington and Cassio to name a few.

The next two titles, “You are my Friend” by Kenny Bobien and “Feel like Singing” by Sandy B, shot BOP into the ionosphere as acclaimed house music producers. BOP formed a publishing agreement with Jellybean Benitez. Paul and Shank had releases on a variety of dance labels including Jellybean Records, Free Bass/Soundmen on Wax, Strictly Rhythm, Nervous, Mercury, Warner Brother, Columbia and a host of other labels from the U.S. to Japan. Paul continues his love for music by playing keyboards every Sunday between two churches in South Jersey and Philadelphia.

He’s still active in the House community playing for House music festivals as well as indoor events. You can check out the latest house music from Paul at www.bopmusic.net.
