Jim Shaft Ryan begins his journey from school learning how to play the Bass Guitar, the same Bass Guitar Paul McCartney played. Jim and his brother Michael start a band and the dream was to become Rock Stars. As chance would have it they begin to start to sell clothing in their own Boutique Shop in Birmingham.
While involved in the fashion side of the business early on, they are approached by promoters who are selling tickets for Rave Events. The Ryan brothers start selling tickets to these huge events which spark the idea for them to begin putting events on as well. Biography Jim Shaft Ryan
Jim ‘Shaft’ Ryan a DJ back in demand bringing his Miss Moneypenny’s sound to the likes of Clockwork Orange, Time Flies, Our House. Jim ‘Shaft’ Ryan, is one of club lands most establishment figures, an innovator, a visionary and ambassador for dance music. An internationally respected DJ, a talented remixer, producer and radio show presenter. A true pioneer of dance music, since the 1980s.
He one of the creators of Miss Moneypennys and Chuff Chuff internationally acknowledge legendary legacy clubbing brands, as well as sharing his expertise for music, events and fashion brand start-ups. This pioneering spirit has seen him tour the world as well as hold down one of the longest residencies in Ibiza, Miss Moneypenny’s legendary residency from 1995 to 2010 in Pacha and El Divino..
Jim has released, compiled, licensed, conceptualised and featured on 21 compilation albums his most recent, the highly acclaimed Miss Moneypennys 25th Anniversary release. He has produced and remixed under a number of alias including Groove Allegiance and JSR. His most recent production project Zoned Out whose remixes have steered the likes of Beyone, Michael Buble, Lady Ga Ga, Solange Knowles and Yoko Ono on to the Dancefloor, all receiving critical acclaim.
He has hosted a weekly radio show in the UK, Ibiza, Spain, US, Australia, New Zealand and Bulgaria. The show was compiled produced and presented by Jim allowing him to explore and break the music he loves. A re-launch of Miss Moneypenny’s in Ibiza with events in Ocean Beach and Café del Mar with Jim headlining and bespoke events in partnership with Marco Pierre White’s restaurant chain.
Jim has also been one of the driving forces behind Celestial Recordings since its inception in June 2010 regularly releasing underground music and is in the process of creating a new label Outer Circle Sounds. His understanding of the music business spans 25 years through his Miss Moneypenny’s Music Label, which was responsible for taking Tom Novy ‘Your Body’ to the top ten in 2006 with another equally huge record Kroose Featuring Klaudia Keziah’s ‘Sun Gonna Shine gaining momentum on the Ibiza dance floors and festivals as well as a project involving one of the Little Mix members.
His new event and house music brand POUT, Peace Openness Unity, Together has started to gain momentum. Adopting the values of Miss Moneypennys and Chuff Chuff for a new generation.
