Part 1
Ralphie D’Agostino aka DJ Ralphie Dee opens up the interview from his humble beginnings of learning about music through watching the famous Television program called The Ed Sullivan show. He shares his life growing up as a young kid in Bensonhurst Brooklyn.
The drums were his instrument of choice and rock music was the sound of the times. Ralphie discovers disco music through pre mixed 8 Track tapes and starts to learn the process of becoming a DJ.
Part 2
Dj Ralphie Dee is preparing to start playing in Discos in this segment. He is talking about the early part of the 1970s. Ralphie is hired to play at a bar on Coney Island Avenue called the Drift Inn and shares his first experience of visiting Odyssey 2001.
In this segment he gives you the backstory of the club and how he is offered the job to DJ at the club and how the movie Saturday Night Fever is created and filmed at the club. He also shares about how strong the Italian Mafia muscle and how things had to be cleared before you proceed with shooting this famous movie.

Biography Ralphie Dee
Ralphie Dee found himself smack dab in the middle of the disco boom at the ripe old age of 15 when he became the resident DJ at 2001 Odyssey in Brooklyn, the club where Saturday Night Fever was filmed. The movie was largely responsible for the popularization of disco lifestyle, and attracted numerous tourists to 2001 Odyssey starting in 1978 and through the 1980s.
It was there in the heyday of 1978 to 1980 thousands flocked to 2001 and were treated to Ralphie’s legendary DJ sets. many of the records played at 2001 were heard for the first time by thousands of people.
From there he began doing guest spots on New York’s WKTU ” Studio 92″ which aired Saturday nights from 10 till 1am, then working thru the 80’s at some of New Yorks best and most popular clubs.
In 1989 he began a serious push into the recording industry and helped pave the way for what was later called hardcore techno, after co producing the worldwide hit “The Realm” this lead to playing guestspots across Europe and Asia for nearly 10 years from 1990 to 2000.
In 2007, Ralphie Dee was inducted into The Legends of Vinyl Hall of Fame.
The year 2017 was the 40th anniversary of Saturday Night Fever’s release as there were many concerts featuring the original artists who appeared on the album along with Ralphie appearing as the DJ
In 2019 Dee launched his third imprint DEETRAX which will feature DeeTrax RED for previously released tracks only available on vinyl until now and DeeTrax WHITE for brand new tracks.
In 2021 he also appeared True House Stories series with Lenny Fontana.
2023 Dee has 4 labels and has done tracks for other labels like Hive – Disco Down – B Club Milano. In August he will DJ in Europe ( Edinburgh Vienna Prague Manchester and London.
Ralphie currently plays at his residency Nuvo in New York and still plays venues across Europe and the U.S.
